How we handle your data
All your data stays on your device. Dormie does not store personal information on servers or cloud services. This approach improves privacy and ensures you remain in control of your information.
Why did my saved data disappear?
Dormie stores all your data securely on your device using local storage. This means your favourites, settings, and match history never leave your device. Because the data is stored locally, it can be lost in certain scenarios—usually due to actions taken by the device or operating system.
Common reasons local data can be lost
- Uninstalling the app — The most common cause. Deleting the app removes all its data.
- Clearing app data/cache (Android) or Deleting/Offloading the app (iOS).
- Device factory reset — Completely wipes device storage.
- Changing to a new device without restoring from a backup that includes app data.
- Major iOS updates — Rare, but sometimes reset local storage.
- Running out of device storage — The operating system may purge app data when space is critically low.
- Reinstalling the app from the App Store.
- Switching between development and production builds (for TestFlight/dev testers).
- App updates that restructure local storage — Normally avoided, but possible in rare edge cases.
How to avoid losing your data
- Keep the app installed if you want to retain your data.
- Ensure your device backups (iCloud or Google Backup) include app data.
- Avoid clearing app storage manually.
- Maintain sufficient free storage on your device.
